Nienor sat at one end of the table of the great dining hall. He sat straight in the chair, his hands on the table before him, and stared out the window into the darkness. Emmralore sat on one side of the table four chairs down from Nienor, and she, too, stared out into the darkness. Neither spoke. Neither moved. They simply sat and stared.

The group followed Madrik as he wandered through the caverns. Phaedra followed behind Madrik, and Nyomie walked with her. Zander and Keira walked behind them, and Bran followed behind. Nyomie watched as Madrik's tail lashed the air behind him. She and Phaedra stayed well out of its range. Keira's voice rose behind them, mingled with Zander's on occassion, but Nyomie could not make out any of their words.

Bran shoved his hands into his pockets as they walked. His hands shook and he didn't want anyone else to see. His body nearly screamed for a drink. Sweat drops beaded his forehead. The group had descended the stairs and now traveled through a long tunnel lit at intervals by shafts of light. Apparently the tunnel wasn't very far underground. Bran had wondered if it would be. They hadn't gone down very many stairs.
